Hmm... had my first driving lesson today. I saw my instructor who is a friend of my mother. He was the instructor of my mother when she was learning how to drive too. Hmm.. he seem to grow old a lot. Kinda shocked when I saw him.
So I sat at the driver's seat and adjusted my seat. Left leg almost straightened when my clutch is fully depress.... wear seat belt and adjust the mirrors. First thing first... I noticed that I can see my blind spots via my rear view mirror, the part which is beside my rear passenger seat. So I guess I don't really have to turn my head and look over my shoulder when I check my blind spots..lol... nah... still have to do that...
Hmm... I am starting to feel the difference between the actual distance of the road and the distance viewed from the driver's seat. So erm... checked that my gear is in Neutral and the handbrake is pulled up. My instructor called me to depress the accelerator pedal so that my tachometer reaches 1500rmp per minute. Well... I was wearing sport shoe which have hard soles and I seriously can't feel the pedal at all. So I depress it very gently and it went up to 1000rmp. I gently depress it further and it went up to 2500rmp with loud noise from the engine... the noise is those that you can hear in movies about racing car... it's like that they depress the accelerator pedal and release it and depress it to create those cool engine sound.
So basically I did that because I couldn't control it at all..lol... I realise that the accelerator pedal is super duper extremely sensitive. Finally my meter reached 1500rmp and my instructor called me to hold it there.... feel the sound of the engine and remember this point. I couldn't really feel the sound but I know I like that sound...LOL....
Then I was told to release the gas fully and depress it to 1500rmp again... so I repeated this step for 2 mins then somehow I manage to feel how much to press now.... but no matter how hard I try, I keep getting around 2000rmp.
So I was told not to look at the meter now and depress the gas till 1500rmp... repeated this step for another 2 mins.
I wonder why must it be 1500rmp and so I asked him. He told me the power to move off is around 1500 to 2000rmp. Anything below it the engine will stall... so I was like oh shit... I didn't know it's so important. LOL....
After that I was taught how to change gear. I depress the clutch fully and started changing gear from 1 to 2 to 3 to 4. Gear 5 is what we known as overdrive but learners will never get to use that gear. So I can't learn that. So I changed the gear and he said I changed it too fast... sigh... perhaps I thought I am playing some racing game in arcade... it took me 1 sec to change from gear 1 to gear 2. But he held my hand and took 2 secs to change... I don't really understand why must he change gear so slowly but I understand it now.
Let's see erm.... I went on to turn my steering wheel full lock and notice that his car can only turn 1.75 rounds which means 630 degree. I expected the steering wheel to be hard to turn because my car is not moving and therefore there will be friction between my tyres and the surface of the road but it turn out that the steering wheel is extremely light to turn.
Depress my clutch and went to the 1st gear. Released my clutch halfway which is what they call it the biting point or the half clutch technique. My engine starts to vibrate and if I release just a bit my engine will stall. Which is why the biting point is very important. But then when I reach my biting point, I noticed that my left knee touched the steering wheel. This should not happen but I didn't ask him why.... perhaps the steering wheel is too low for me.
Hmm... in biting point, my car start to move forward like a walking man.... pretty interesting.. in theory, they said that the connecting and disconnecting clutch technique should be used with the gas slightly depress... but in practical, this is false. I can move my car with just half clutch.
So erm.. changed to reverse gear and I was told to reverse with half clutch only. I tried but when I look at the rear windscreen, I can't see the front bonnet of the car behind me.. so I don't have the guts to reverse because I don't know where to stop so that I won't hit the car behind me... I looked at my rear view mirror and I can see the front bonnet of the car behind me... sigh... I don't understand why must we look at the rear windscreen and reverse when the rear view mirror is actually more clearer and more useful... :(
I didn't manage to depress the brake pedal at all today. All I learned was the clutch and gas pedal which I still don't know how much to press to get 1500rmp. Hmm.. the good thing is that my engine didn't stall today.... I believe my engine will stall in the next few lesson.LOL. But I am more likely to be free-wheeling which is dangerous.lol...
Didn't really manage to drive even at 20 km/h today.. sob sob...driving seems easy but it's quite tough when you are the one sitting and driving. Especially when you are just a learner with little experience and your instructor's life is in your hand when you drive.
Hmm... I seem to brag a lot about what I learned today but that's what my instructor called me to do.LOL.. to write a diary about what I did everytime I drive....
Had my schedule planned and I am going to start studying from next monday onwards. My next driving lesson is at next monday too. Oh ya.. Yuwen is taking his TP tomorrow... hope he get his license... heard that Poh ah soon have been sent to CDC to be a test invigilator. SHIT... I hope he fu** off when before I book my test date. He is a irritating, stupid and insane invigilator that everyone knows of. He will fail people no matter how good that person drive. Out of 30 people, only 1 or 2 manage to get a driving license out of him. Idiot... please go away... hope Yuwen don't get him also... if not sure die like hell..lol...
